The sound of a vibrating smartphone activates a brain area that we associate with feelings of love and affection. The Phantom Vibration Syndrome is the desire for the next email, a new Facebook message, a phone call or a text message.

The work Phantom Vibration Syndrome came into being after recording the swiping, tapping, and scrolling that Sanne made during one day on her phone. She repeated these movements in a sand-mould in which then liquid glass is poured. When the glass becomes solid and the sand is removed the movements become visible.
